Relays for PV-inverters

Song Chuan, the Taiwanese manufacturer of relays is presenting two types of new relays for the application in PV-inverter which meet the standards of DIN VDE 0126-1-1.

The model-series 110 is a new, innovative, high-performance single-pole miniature relay with NO-contact and the contact gap > 1,5mm.

Compared with other similar relays, 35% of PCB surface will be economized due to the compact type of construction (dimensions: 21,5 x 16 x 20,6 mm). The maximum switching current conducts 26A/ 250VAC at 70°C or 22A/ 250VAC at 85°C. Both ratings were approved by the VDE with 30.000 switching cycles. Further tests of electrical endurance have been accomplished based on utilization category AC7a of EN 69947-1.

The model 510 (dimensions: 51,5 x 35 x 39 mm) is a double-pole power relay for high contact current. For the version 510, the maximum switching current conducts   2 x 35A/ 250VAC at 85°C. The version 510H (high power) is authorized for power up to 2 x 54A/ 250VAC at 85°C. The standard version is with 20.000 switching cycles, the high power version is with 10.000 switching cycles approved. The contact gap of model 510 > 2mm. A relay contactor can be substituted by one relay of the 510 type.

In order to reach the standards of the markets, the non-release voltage of both models can reduce more than 50% nominal voltage in 10ms.

Song Chuan uses a new contact material for the models 110 and 510, which is offering a lower, more stable contact resistance for the whole durability. Thereby the self-heating of relay will be reduced conspicuously. This is a great advantage for the PV-inverter manufacturers, as the temperature of the whole device will be reduced.
Models 832 and 894 were successfully placed on the market. Soon they will be supplemented with these new, compact and high-performance models 110 and 510.

Within a short time Song Chuan will present more relays application in PV-inverter. Hence Song Chuan will offer appropriate relays for all required power ranges for the solar industry.
